KT Security Solutions works closely with each customer to determine the best location for each RASR system. We carefully analyze each interior space to figure out how to maximize protection. From initial design to manufacturing to installation, we aim to have each project complete in six to eight weeks. The process is as follows.
Rapid Access Safe Room
RASR is a ballistic shield and emergency shelter for schools and other vulnerable spaces. The RASR system is fully-customizable — designed and produced to your exact dimensions.
Our deployable systems are then installed flush with two of your existing walls in a way that two of the four walls are mobile and can be quickly moved to deploy the complete, four-wall system in seconds. Our fixed wall systems are installed with all four walls in a locked, fixed position. After installation, both the deployable and fixed wall systems can be relocated, as needed, by certified installers.
RASR systems can be installed in both new construction and existing buildings. Optional features include ceiling security and both gunfire detection and camera monitoring to alert law enforcement and administrators when and where a threat is detected.

It’s certainly unfortunate the RASR system had to be invented. But school shootings — and other gun violence — have become a sad reality in the United States, and around the world. And while KT Security Solutions understands the RASR is simply treating the symptoms of the problem and not addressing the root of it, we believe it’s still important to provide protection for students and teachers and do what we can to save lives while we work together to find a more comprehensive solution to the problem.
Current security measures don’t go far enough. Cameras and metal detectors provide a certain level of security but do not provide the physical protection that RASR provides. In addition, it provides protection from inclement weather events and other emergencies. And it can be used in a variety of classroom-enhancing ways: reading space, sensory-friendly area for special needs children, free time room and more.
2. RASR Provides Emotional Benefits
Teachers, students and parents are scared every day. This fear can make it difficult — if not impossible — for teachers to teach and children to learn. However, we believe the RASR can alleviate some of the anxiety and provide invaluable peace of mind to students, teachers and parents alike.
What’s more, because the RASR is essentially camouflaged as a whiteboard, it doesn’t feel like a shelter or security measure. It feels like a whiteboard, and there’s nothing scary about that.
3. RASR Is An Affordable Complement to Existing Security Measures
Right now, school systems and local governments are spending millions of dollars on security measures primarily outside of school buildings that are designed to prevent emergencies. Yet they aren’t working. Not consistently, anyway. The RASR isn’t cheap, but it’s actually not expensive in terms of ballistics. That is, in terms of material that can protect people — can protect children — from bullets.
Truth is, RASR not only complements current security measures, it provides a whole new level of security that’s focused on the inside of the building. And when you consider how much is already being spent to protect the outside of the building, it seems perfectly reasonable to invest money to actually protect bodies inside the building. In reality, most schools don’t just do cameras or just metal detectors. They layer security as much as their budgets allow. So, RASR is simply another layer — a very important layer — that needs to be added to existing security measures. In fact, it’s a critical, life-saving layer no vulnerable building should be without.
